5. Fifi and the Curious Case of the Sleepy Hedgehog
It was early morning in Meadowville, and the dew clung to the grass like silver sprinkles. Fifi was enjoying a quiet walk through Buttercup Lane when she noticed something… odd.
Right in the middle of the path, curled into a little ball, was a hedgehog — and he was snoring gently.
Fifi tilted her head. "Strange… Hedgehogs are usually tucked away during the day."
Just then, Aurora padded up beside her. "Who's that?" she whispered, trying not to wake the little sleeper.
"I'm not sure," Fifi whispered back. "But I think we have a sleepy mystery on our paws."
Fifi gently approached the hedgehog and tapped the ground beside him with her paw.
The hedgehog uncurled slowly, blinking in the sunlight. "Oh dear… I'm late! I was meant to be at the Berry Brunch with my cousins!"
Aurora sat down beside him. "What happened?"
"I got lost last night trying to find a shortcut home. Then I got so tired, I must've fallen asleep right here!"
Fifi pulled out her notebook. "Don't worry. We'll help you find your way."
The hedgehog, whose name was Henry, explained that he lived in the berry thicket near Pebble Hill — but he'd taken a wrong turn by the lily pond.
"Then we need to retrace your steps," Fifi said confidently. "We're great at sniffing out clues — right, Aurora?"
Aurora gave a happy bark, and the trio set off together.
They passed the lily pond, a rabbit warren, and even a curious crow who pointed them toward the bramble patch.
"There it is!" Henry cheered as his little burrow appeared, with tiny red berries painted over the doorway.
Henry's cousins were thrilled to see him. The table was still full of berry pancakes, honey muffins, and warm acorn tea.
"We waited, just in case," one cousin said with a smile.
Henry turned to Fifi and Aurora. "Thank you both. Without your help, I'd still be snoring in the sun!"
Fifi giggled. "Every mystery has a solution — especially with a little teamwork."
💛 The Moral of the Story
Even when you're lost, kindness and teamwork can guide you home.
Fifi and Aurora reminded Henry that asking for help is never a weakness — it's a step toward feeling safe again.
